Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Catons Lane for todays Ridgeons League First Division fixture against Tiptree United.

Our visitors today are currently positioned at the top of the table and are enjoying a good run of form so we are anticipating a tough but very exciting match. We were narrowly defeated 1-0 away at Tiptree at the beginning of December in a close encounter and we will be looking to reverse our fortunes today.

Tiptree are renowned for being one of the divisions top sides so we will have to be on top of our game to collect three points which will see us maintain our own challenge for promotion.

Over recent weeks we have seen one of our fixtures fall to the ever changing weather conditions but have been on an impressive run ourselves.

After defeating Downham Town 2-0 away at the end of December, we have continued our success into the New Year with wins at home to Long Melford (1-0), March Town (3-1) and defeated Ely City 1-0 here last Saturday. In between these, a hard earned point away at Gorleston (2-2) in a game we should have won has seen us firmly placed in and amongst the leading pack.

Last Saturdays fixture against Ely City was certainly an incident packed and entertaining afternoon. Fixtures between the two clubs are always tough encounters with both sides giving there all and no player holding back. Following a physical match I was delighted to win the game and felt we deserved our victory.

Throughout the game there was some over zealous challenges but the lads did well to maintain there focus and get the job done. I feel we should have won the game by a greater margin but the three points is the priority and we enjoyed our success.

I would also like to thank all those supporters who attended last weeks fixture for creating such a great atmosphere. The support we have is second to none and gives us all a lift.

On a sincerer note during the Ely fixture, visiting player Dean Blackman sustained a nasty injury that led to the game being held up for 85mins as an ambulance was called. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of myself, the players and everyone at the club to wish him all the very best in his recovery.

On the injury front, Matt Danbury and Sean Anderson are close to regaining fitness as we look to return to full strength as we push on for a promotion challenge. Your support is very much appreciated

All the best.

Tommy
