Welcome to October 11 Newsletter

We would like to wish you a warm welcome to the first edition of the Saturday Soccer School (SSS) Newsletter. The aim of the newsletter is to provide a way for us to communicate with you & keep you informed of any changes or updates. We hope to ensure that the newsletter is updated the first Saturday of every month, so watch this space!!

Our aim

The aim of SSS is to provide the children with a fun & safe environment to play football in an enjoyable & engaging way. We aim to help children develop their individual & team skills, whilst building their confidence & maximising their potential. We aim to get it right, so we welcome your feedback on what we do well & how we can improve, please come and say Hi and have a chat.

With Regret

It is with regret that we have to confirm that Steve Smith has left SSS. We are now looking for volunteers to run the Year 3 group please. Moving forward we have three choices at the end of this season for the current Year 3’s, enter a mini league, keep the team back for another year of SSS(help would be needed please) or alternatively bring the year 3 team to an end, all these decisions would be made in consultation with parents & guardians. Bringing the Year 3 team to an end next year is something nobody involved with SSS wishes to do, but we need your help please. How can you help? Can you recruit new players please?

Golden Guidelines

 We aim to start at 10am
 Shin pads to be worn please – if you forget them please tell your coach
 Suitable footwear please
 Bottle of drink please
 Layered named clothing suitable for weather conditions
 Please complete a registration form & consent form – available from coach or gate

Website

We plan to use the youth section of the website to provide you with updates and contacts. As the cold weather begins we will post on the website when SSS is postponed, so check the website on a Saturday morning & we will let you know when we won’t be there, we hope to save you a wasted journey.

Pictures

Over the coming weeks we will be taking pictures of SSS, we will plan to use these pictures on the website & for publicity. We will use the pictures in line with consent form information.

Facebook

Come and join our group on Facebook. Just click this link to the Facebook Page or type in Saffron Walden Town Youth in the search box on www.facebook.com. It’s an easy way to keep up to date & share information about SSS.

Coaches Corner Top Tip

Year 2’s coach Tim Porter always finds it fun & informative to watch Match of the Day on Sunday mornings with his lads. The match analysis with comments from Alan Hansen is often a great way to talk through formations & skills with his sons. Why not watch it on Sunday Morning!!!

We are......

All coach’s, tea hut & gate helpers are volunteers. Without the volunteers SSS would not be able to run. Please if you can help in anyway can you give us your contact details & tell us how you might be able to help, we urgently need tea hut helpers !

Thank you

We would like to say thank you to you the parents / guardians that make sure the boots are cleaned, the kits are washed, the shin pads are ready, and the little darlings are out of bed on cold Saturday mornings. Also a huge ‘high 5’ to all the little Rooney’s, Bale’s, Lampard’s & Hart’s that run around with us & show so much enthusiasm each week.

Saffron Stats

What would be the total age of the coaches on the morning of Saturday 29th October, reception through to year 3??

Write your answer down, along with your name & contact number then hand it in at the tea hut for your chance to win a small prize.

See you Saturday
