Saffron Walden Town 2
Saffron Walden scored late on to win the three points as they hosted Gorleston FC at Catons Lane. The fans welcomed new signings Lewis Francis and Jake Young who both managed to get some game time in the win.
The Bloods got the ball rolling early on with a goal inside fifteen minutes. Ronnie Ledwith’s long throw was met with a near post flick-on which found Oliver Emsden’s head to give the hosts the lead.
The remainder of the half was mostly dominated by Gorlseton in terms of chances. However, some important saves from Neil O’Sullivan were crucial in insuring that his team went in at the break in front.

Gorleston were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute after an attacker was brought down on the right hand side of the box. Joel Watts was the man to take it and score it past O’Sullivan.
New signing Lewis Francis made a clear impact from the bench. His hard work was almost rewarded in the 79th minute as he fired low at goal, but it was saved by the keeper.
With only seconds to go, the Bloods got the goal to win the game. Charlie Portway found himself on the end of a ball over the top. The goalkeeper came off his line and out of the box, but Portway lifted the ball over his head, enabling him to finish into the empty goal.
Finally, everyone at Saffron Walden Town would like to wish Connor Molloy all the best as he joins the Royal Marines. His last game for the Bloods was last Saturday against Thetford Town.
