Saffron Walden Town Ladies
Lauren Hepburn : Defender
Lol is in her second year
with Walden and is an important fixture on the left flanks. Defensive
injuries has meant that Lol has been called upon to fill in at leftback and
she has made this transition very successfully with her precise tackling and
link up play.

Debs has moved to a more
central midfield role and has had an encouraging season. She is perhaps a
player who silently gets on with her job without the recognition she
deserves but don’t underestimate the contribution she makes to the game. She
also links up well with the defence |
Rissa is not the most physical of players on the pitch but is
perfectly at ease when she has the ball at her feet. Her strength is her
vision in picking out teammates and her ability to hold the ball up. Despite
her height Rissa is also strong in the air and isn’t afraid of making an
aerial challenge |
Goo is a big character who
helps to lift spirits even when the games aren’t going Walden’s way. She is
a defender by trade but who has successfully filled in in a variety of
positions when called upon. |
Experienced striker with a good goal return and the ability
to maintain possession. Plagued with injuries in the past Bill enjoyed a
long spell back in the team and a return to goalscoring form. Her
navigational form en route to games however still requires some fine-tuning |
Locks is a well-liked and respected member of the squad and a
perfect captain for the team. Her immense experience is invaluable and her
supportive approach to the captaincy is important when games aren’t going
according to plan. Defensively Locks is still as reliable as she was ten
years ago. |
Frankie Smith :
Defender |
Central Defender, strong tackler, good
reader of the game and strong in the air. |
Michelle Smith : Defender
Michelle is new to the
Walden set up and indeed new to the game and has proved herself to be a
valuable asset at the heart of the defence. With more experience Michelle
will improve but in the meantime her long kicks have been a useful tool for
Walden this season.
Sharon Harrison : Defender
Shaz is perhaps the most
consistent player at Saffron Walden Ladies. She has vastly improved her game
this season and has discovered a talent for set pieces which has seen her
score her first goal for the club. A move to midfield has allowed Shaz to
utilise her attacking skills without restricting her opportunity to use her
imfamous slide tackles. |
Amie
Jones : Utility Player/ Winger
Despite being the youngest
member of the squad Amie has the confidence of someone who has been playing
for years. She can adapt to any position on the pitch and is another of the
squad with pace and a natural goal scoring ability. |
Kim
Jeffery : Utility Player/Central Midfielder
Gooner has enjoyed another
successful season with Walden. She is a utility player but is a central
midfielder/striker at heart. She is lighting quick when chasing a ball and
has recently trademarked 30 yard strikes as "Gooner specials". she has a
natural instinct in front of goal as well as a natural instinct in sniffing
out a free drink at the bar.
