I caught up with Jake yesterday to get the full run down on his last injury, his current one, and what it means for the club.
First of all Jake, What has happened and why are you not playing at the moment
"I made a rash decision going in for a tackle against Long Melford and that resulted in a small tear on my MC ligament. To be honest, it didn't feel too bad at the time and it was only after the game that the swelling got so bad that i knew i needed to get it looked at. What annoyed me about the tackle that it was made with about 2 minutes to go and we were cruising"
Is it the same knee as before?
"Nope, that knee hasnt been a problem, this is my right knee. I really hope to be able to play again this season but im realistic to know that it cant be hurried"
How have you enjoyed the past few games in the Reserves?
"I've enjoyed it a lot. the football tempo is high and they play a technical game which is encouraged by the team and management. The pressure isn't on getting points every game as such, its built on development which is good to see. Unfortunately we don't have that luxury as such in the First team as its more results driven which is understandable"
Any messages for Sticko, Jason or Keith from the Reserves?
"Its been a mixed year in the Firsts, but there is such a talented squad there and no-one would write anyone off. The club has some good people in place and we must all continue to get the best out of each other both on and off the pitch"
Finally Nobby, The injury obiously means you will not be taking place in the line up for the final. That must hurt a bit?
"Of course it does, but there will be others and whos to say i would have been selected anyway? Those players in the Reserves are very driven and are all wanting to impress at every opportunity. I will be there though on the night and will help out from the bench wherever i can?
Nobby, thank you and it will be great to have you back fully fit as soon as you can
