STATEMENT FROM THE SAFFRON WALDEN TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB BOARD

By Glen Wilkinson

CLUB STATEMENT

Following the resignation by Mr Ken Vincent as Vice chairman and member of the Board at SWTFC, the board would like to make the following statement.

An agreement between CKL Ltd (Ken, Chrissie, Charlie and Louise) and SWTFC was entered into as at the 1st June 2018. The agreement which all parties agreed too was to allow CKL Ltd to run the clubhouse facilities on behalf of SWTFC at Catons Lane as a separate entity with all revenue raised at the clubhouse being that of CKL’s in exchange for a set fee payable each calendar month to SWTFC.

Any decisions regarding utility & supplier contracts, staffing, pricing, music events, the Takeaway Service, Meals on Wheels and catering of in house & outside events were at the sole discretion of CKL Ltd and all income and expenditure occurring from these events to be the responsibility of CKL.

The Board of SWTFC was informed mid-January, that CKL would not be able to meet any of their monthly payment due for December and January. With this in mind, Ken was asked to consider his position on the board as there was a direct conflict of interest, which the board felt was untenable. Ken announced his decision Friday evening. SWTFC Board would like to acknowledge Kens invaluable input over the past years and all his hard work, we are extremely saddened to lose him from the board.

The Board now has the very difficult task of finding the shortfall in their budget at a time when there are very few 1st Team home matches remaining in the season, whilst chasing promotion, and still providing all the hospitality that our great club has always provided.

As a board we always have to bear in mind that our duty of care is to the Football Club as a whole, players, supporters, volunteers and the community.
We ask our loyal supporters for their continued support during this time, whilst difficult decisions need to be made.

SWTFC will issue a further statement on Thursday 31st January at 10am
