Saffron Walden Town 7
Fakenham Town 0
Saffron Walden Town hosted Fakenham Town in this Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn Premier Division clash which was dedicated to the late Paul Daw. The occasion was marked in style as the hosts thrashed Fakenham seven-nil – a fitting tribute to the former player, secretary, president and fan.
Walden got the ball rolling early on with a goal from winger Lewis Francis in the first minute. A long ball over the defence found him after a miskick-clearance from a defender, and Lewis slotted it past the keeper.
In the 28th minute, Walden doubled their lead through Joe Maybanks. A quick exchange of passes between Portway and Maybanks set him up for a tap in from the centre of the box, finding the bottom corner.
The third goal came just before half time as man of the match Julian Simon-Parsons finished into the bottom left corner after a well-placed back-heel from Portway.

The first 30 minutes after the break were fairly quiet, until substitute Ronnie Ledwith fired home from distance into the top right corner to make it four-nil.
Minutes later, Portway finally found the net. he was found by a free-kick on the right hand side and smashed the ball into the roof of the goal.
Ledwith wasn’t the only substitute to make an impact. Youngster Pedro DA SILVA scored his first goal for the senior team in the 85th minute. He found himself on the end of a through-ball and calmly put it past the keeper.
In the dying moments of the match, Charlie Portway put the game to bed with his second goal of the day. Portway lobbed the keeper from outside of the box over on the left hand side.
