Reserves Begin With a Win
Keith Dicker's Young Reserve Team Took All 3 Points on Offer in Their Opening League Fixture Against Whittin Reserves With a Well Earned 3-0 Victory
With some new faces in the squad this season, the reserves came out looking positive and keen to impress the watching crowd of 63 (not bad for a reserve fixture)
New skipper and debutant Charlie DAVIES led by example with his box to box running which allowed another debutant Charlie Smith to lay down the foundations of how the team were going to play.
Yet another debutant Dan TRENDALL was causing all kinds of problems for the Whitton defence with his strong running AND close ball skills.
The wingbacks Charlie Dicker and Coby Game were also causing problems in the offensive third with their tireless, aggresive running. GAME opened the scoring with an opportunist goal in the first half.
Jack Morris and TRENDALL added to the scoreline to seal the match 3-0.
It was pleasing to see Dan PINKNEY, Will LAWRENCE and Jack ROWLEY all from the U18s trying to claim a spot in the team as well.
Only major downside (apart from the 20 minutes or so where the players "swithed off") was an injury to new Centre Back Kieren Lock. Potential ligament damage which may take at least 4-6 weeks.
Manager, Keith Dicker (pictured) said "Overall we cant be dis-pleased with a 3-0 on the first day of the season. We have a lot of work to do, and the players know their roles and responsibilities. Once we have a full and fit squad to choose from then the competition for places will be huge"
