Riccio is Ready for Cup Battle

By Glen Wilkinson

Mike Riccio is under no illusions on the task ahead of his talented U18 side in Thursdays FA Youth Cup match at Catons Lane

One thing the U18s will not be for this cup tie is COMPLACENT.

"We are already at the stage of this years competition where all of the "lesser" teams will have already been eliminated and it will ve quality that remains. We do know that we will be facing some power and pace in this Hitchin team and we will do all we can to nulify the threat" said Riccio

An excited Riccio continued, "We have a group of honest technically gifted players and will do what we normally do and play our passing and posession game. Thats our footprint at the club and we will not take our eyes off of that for a second"

"We are in the position of being involved in a fantastic supported club. Be it the 1st Team, Reserves or the U18s the vocal support we get is excellent. Hopefully we will be on form to help them enjoy the game as much as possible"

When asked if he fancied predicting an outcome on the match, Riccio answered.

"Im not that brave, but i can tell you this. those lads will leave the pitch having given their absolute all. They are all focussed on being succesful at this club at every level. It doesnt go un-noticed that the 1st Team Gaffer is present at pretty much EVERY mid-week game so he can see who is coming through"

"My backroom team of Nigel Keating, Shane Mills and James Hayden are on the ball and between us all, we have the players ready to take another step forward in the competition"
