Mascot Wacky Macky is back in training for the Mascot Grand National which is
being held at Huntingdon Race Course on Sunday 4 October.
Wacky Macky will, of course, be trying for an unprecedented hat trick of wins in
the National! Do put the date in your diary and try to cheer on Wacky - it is a
great day out and more information is available on the Mascot National website
at
www.themascotgrandnational.co.uk and two tickets are currently available
through the site for the price of one (accompanied children under 18 are free).
Sponsorship forms are also available and an online donation page is being set up
for what is likely to be Wacky Macky’s last race in the National Grand National.
The Willow Foundation will be the main beneficiary of money collected.
I
would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped in raising money
for charity for this years Mascot Grand National race. Of course you all know
that I won it again - but I want to thank all who helped to give the local and
not so local coverage that we had.
My local newspaper up North "The Sunderland Echo" has been doing a great job in
spreading the "Word" all about Saffron Walden Towns Northern Mascot. I think
that I've been in and out of the paper for about a month now!All of that would not have been possible had it not been for Trevor
Hoyland, James Johnston and the rest of the North East press Another couple of
people who have had to put up with a lot are my wife and kids: Helen, Emily and
Jack who all had to put up with me worrying about the big race.
We had another good turn out at Huntingdon Race Course even though it was (to
put it politely) raining very heavy! My Mam and Dad had travelled down from
Sunderland, Carol and John, Dennis and Toni, Tommy and his girlfriend as well as
Bill Lee’s Son and Grandson who were there on his behalf - and not forgetting
Peter.
What a noise they made! I can remember walking down the track and all you could
here was this deafening cry of “Wacky Macky”. I think that gave me that extra
bit of a boost to really believe that I could win this again.
We will have to wait and see what happens next year but thanks for every ones
support. Many Thanks to all of the public as well as the local businesses who
sponsored me:
Saffron Walden Plumb Centre,
DSI Kitchens and Bathrooms,
The Mens Room,
H Peasgood and Sons Funeral Directors,
Daniel Robinson and Sons Funeral Directors and
Jossaume Plant Hire.
