Stuart Wardley’s men had to come from behind twice to earn them selves a point in very difficult conditions.
After some good pressure from Walden, it was Kirkley opened the scoring minutes after Greame Turner headed effort was denied by the cross bar. 9 found himself in space just outside the area and skillfully chipped the ball over O’Sullivan and in into the back of the net.
This didn’t let the Bloods heads drop and they continued to show good attacking form. The pressure finally paid off after some great work from Graeme Turner. Turner skillfully held up the ball in the six yard box; slipped the ball wide to Bell, and Bell smashed the ball into the back of the net.
Walden started the second half brightly, and looked favorites to take the lead. Chances came for both sides but neither keeper was really tested, but with ten minutes remaining it was Kirkley again who took the lead from a long range curling effort, which nestled into the back of the net.
With minutes remaining the Bloods piled on the pressure and showed no sign of giving up. Walden needed something special, and Captain Spike Bell ran onto a loose ball. He smashed the ball through three defenders and into the back of the net to rescue a point for Stuart Wardley’s me.
MOTM went to Spike Bell
